Ridge Vineyards is a renowned California winery specializing in single-vineyard wines, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Chardonnay. Established in 1962 by four engineers from Stanford Research Institute—David Bennion, Charles Rosen, Hewitt Crane, and Howard Zeidler—the winery has played a pivotal role in elevating California's wine industry.
The winery's origins trace back to 1885 when Osea Perrone, an Italian doctor, purchased 180 acres on Monte Bello Ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains. He constructed the original winery and produced the first vintage under the Monte Bello name in 1892.
