    To make homemade ginger syrup, combine one cup of sugar, two cups of water, and ¾ cups of peeled and sliced ginger. Bring to a boil, then lower the temperature, and simmer for 10 minutes. Strain, then wait until it cools before you store it into a bottle or a container.

1 Serving

6 cl (60 ml) (2 oz) Canadian rye whiskey

1.5 cl (15 ml) (1/2 oz) ginger syrup

15 cl (15 ml) (1/2 oz) Champagne

GARNISH

lemon peel strip

Preparation

Step 1/3

Add the rye whiskey and the ginger syrup to the shaker, together with ice, then shake.

Step 2/3

Strain into a highball glass filled with ice.

Step 3/3

Top with Champagne and garnish with a lemon peel strip.
