Produced in the mountainous Sierra de Cameros since the 13th century, Camerano is a soft to hard cheese made with raw or pasteurized milk from the Serrana, Murciana-Granadina, Malagueña and Alpina goat breeds.
Matured inside the so-called
cillas - plaited cane baskets typical for its region of origin - the cheese of Camerano exhibits a peculiar appearance. It is known for an intense and persistent flavor reminiscent of wild herbs and goat milk, and thus best enjoyed with blueberry or onion jam, paired with a glass of light, fruity wine.
