The Pinhook Vertical Series Bourbon 9 Year is part of an ambitious project tracking the aging of 1,350 barrels of MGP bourbon over nine years, from four to twelve years old. This nine-year release, one of the more mature expressions in the series, showcases a rich flavor profile developed through extensive aging.

On the nose, it presents notes of seasoned cedar, cardamom, and preserved oranges, creating an intriguing blend of spice and fruit. The palate offers layers of brown sugar, glazed almonds, and brandied cherries, adding a sense of richness and depth.

At 114.3 proof (57.15% ABV), this expression carries a bold character that balances sweetness and spice, crafted with a mash bill of 75% corn, 20.5% rye, and 4.5% malted barley. The Vertical Series offers a unique opportunity for whiskey enthusiasts to experience the evolution of flavors and aromas over the years, leading up to the final twelve-year-old release, which will serve as the culmination of the project.

About Pinhook

Pinhook Bourbon, founded in 2011, blends tradition with innovation in the world of American whiskey. Each year, the distillery releases a new vintage that highlights the unique characteristics of that season, inspired by the approach used in winemaking.

This concept sets Pinhook apart, focusing on capturing the authentic flavors of each batch rather than maintaining a consistent taste profile. The founders, including sommelier Sean Josephs, brought diverse expertise to the brand, merging a passion for whiskey with Kentucky's storied horse-racing traditions.
