It had a generously thick slab of rich-looking mid-yellow custard between two layers of fairly thick, flaky pastry, topped with a thin layer of medium-hard white icing with diagonal brown piped lines. "Although the pastry was quite puffed and a mid-baked light brown colour, it was wafer like; crunchy and crisp. The custard was beautifully soft, creamy and full of vanilla. Finally, the icing; potentially too thick and overbearing, but actually a good soft texture and the chocolate swirls were what I was left with as a pleasant aftertaste."

A smooth and creamy custard centre is topped by a hardened crust and iced egg white topping, while the base is soft but firm.
