Authentic Mojito Recipe Cuba, North America

JUMP TO RECIPE

We strongly advise you to read the cooking tips before jumping to the recipe though

Tips

  • sugar

Some bartenders prefer using powdered sugar or sugar syrup instead of the crystal sugar as that way the sugar dissolves better and does not fall to the bottom of the glass. If you’d like to make a sugar syrup at home, merely heat water and sugar (in 1:1 ratio) until dissolved.
  • muddling

The mint should be gently bruised with the muddler, not torn. See, if you smash the mint too hard, it will release a bitter flavor, and if it tears, the pieces will get stuck in the straw. Another trick bartenders use to release the oil from the mint is to smack it before adding it to the cocktail.
