  • method

    When straining the drink, use a fine mesh strainer as well to catch all the pieces of ice.
  • tequila

    The tequila of choice is a blanco tequila, but for a more refined taste, you can use a reposado or a joven tequila. In any case, no matter what tequila you go for, it should still have a 100% agave classification.
  • variations

    To make a frozen margarita, add a cup of ice to the basic recipe, and whizz the ingredients in a blender. To serve a margarita on the rocks, add a couple of ice cubes to the glass before you strain the margarita into it. If you find the margarita too sour, you can sweeten it with agave syrup.
  • garnish

    The salt rim should on the outside of the glass. If it’s exactly on the rim, the salt will fall into the glass, which will throw off the flavors of the cocktail. To make a salt rim, rub the outside of the rim with lime or lemon, and then dip into the salt — ideally, sea salt or Kosher salt. Ingredients

1 Serving

3.5 cl (35 ml) (1,2 oz) tequila

2 cl (20 ml) (0,7 oz) Cointreau

1.5 cl (15 ml) (0,5 oz) freshly squeezed lime juice

GARNISH

salt on the rim

Shake all the ingredients in a shaker with ice, then strain into a margarita glass rimmed with salt.
