Louis Latour Beaune 1er Cru "Vignes Franches" 2017 is a distinguished red wine crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grapes, sourced from the esteemed "Vignes Franches" Premier Cru vineyard in Beaune, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France. The term "Vignes Franches" translates to "free vines," historically indicating vineyards exempt from certain taxes.

This particular parcel is situated mid-slope with clay and limestone soils interspersed with small pebbles, facilitating excellent drainage and contributing to the wine's refined character. In the glass, the wine exhibits an intense ruby, cherry-red hue.

The nose reveals concentrated aromas of sweet black cherry and raspberry, complemented by notes of chocolate, spice, and black pepper. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, offering a harmonious balance of elegance and power, with succulent, round tannins leading to a long, silky finish.

About Maison Louis Latour

Maison Louis Latour is a distinguished family-owned winery in Burgundy, France, with a history dating back to 1797. The Latour family's involvement in viticulture began even earlier, in 1731, with their first vineyard acquisition in the Côte de Beaune.

In 1832, Maison Louis Latour constructed the Corton Grancey Cuverie in Aloxe-Corton, the first purpose-built winery in France. Ingeniously designed over five levels into a hillside, it utilizes gravity for the winemaking process, minimizing the need for pumps and preserving the wine's integrity.

The winery specializes in crafting elegant wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, reflecting the unique terroirs of their vineyards. Their commitment to quality is evident in their meticulous vineyard management and winemaking practices.
