Lazakiyat

(Lasakiat, Lazaqiyat, Sayyala, Siyalat, لزاقيات, Syalat, سیالات, Syayel)

Lazakiyat is a traditional Middle Eastern dessert that is particularly popular in Syria. It is made from a dough consisting of flour, sugar, milk, and yeast, usually seasoned with turmeric, anise, and cardamom, which is traditionally baked on a metal griddle saj.

After cooking, the flatbreads are typically brushed with ghee and honey or sugar, giving it a sweet and rich flavor. Also, to make it richer, the flatbreads are also often spread with a mixture of milk and halva. Sometimes, when assembled, lazakiyat is topped with pistachios or other nuts for added texture.

Lazakiyat is often served during festive occasions or family gatherings and is known for its crisp texture and syrupy sweetness.
