This recipe is adapted from the website of the Austrian Tourist Board, www.austria.info.
250 ml (1 cup) tea
250 ml (1 cup) spiced rum
250 ml (1 cup) red wine
250 ml (1 cup) plum brandy, schnaps, or any other liqueur to hand
250 ml (1 cup) orange juice
2 to 3 whole cloves
1/4 cinnamon stick
2 lemon slices
sugar, to taste
Add all the ingredients to a stainless steel pot except sugar.
Heat until simmering, then simmer for 5 minutes.
Take the pot off the heat, then add sugar to taste and stir to dissolve.
