Horehound Beer

Horehound beer is a carbonated soft drink created for commercial distribution by a former Whitbreads Cordial factory worker, Percy Pugh. However, the first mentions of the recipe date back to 1876 and can be found in Russell’s Useful Family Receipt Book.

The soft drink is made by fermenting the horehound plant much like beer, and it’s only allowed up to two percent alcohol. Much like its other counterparts, it has a specific herbal flavor.
