Fraise du Périgord are strawberries grown in the open fields and hills full of chestnut trees, in the Dordogne region in France since 1895. All of the strawberries must meet strict quality criteria in regard to their color, size, shape, sugar content, firmness and shine.
There are six varieties of Périgord strawberries which are sold in packets of 250 or 500 grams. These hand-picked strawberries have an intense, sweet, deep and fresh flavor, balanced with a nice level of acidity, and are best enjoyed on their own with some whipped cream, in fruit salads or made into refreshing strawberry sorbets.
