We strongly advise you to read the cooking tips before jumping to the recipe though

Main ingredients

Tips

  • method

The ingredients and equipment should be well-chilled beforehand. Keep the gin in the freezer, but the glasses and the mixing glass should be chilled in the fridge.
  • variations

Although the original martini cocktail was made with equal parts of gin and vermouth, as time passed the ratios changed in favor of gin, so today's dry martini recipes are most commonly anywhere in the 5:1 to 8:1 ratio range, although there are some proponents of the 50:1 and even the 100:1 ratio. Also, a dash or two of Angostura bitters are common in recipes as well.
  • garnish

A single olive is most commonly the garnish of choice, but a lemon twist is also traditional. If the lemon twist is used though, the oils should first be expressed over the drink before the twist is added to the cocktail.
