WHERE TO EAT The best Crumpet in the world (according to food experts)

"A buttery crumpet topped with potted shrimp, shredded kohlrabi and gherkin, and fillet of plaice atop a buttery roast chicken sauce-cum-gravy that magically tastes of parmesan (may cause an undignified desire to lick the bowl clean)."

"A moreish lobster crumpet was essentially two pieces of extremely posh sesame prawn toast, with a mind-blowingly good dip. A sweet, tangy, liquid kaleidoscope, it swung from the heat of Szechuan pepper and red chilli one moment, to a flash of ginger and mandarin the next, ending with the fragrance of spring onion and coriander."

"My starter was epic. Crisp, warm and squishy mini crumpets were served with a heaving bowl of dressed crab. Sweet white flesh, savoury brown crab mayonnaise and crunchy breadcrumbs were a delight slathered on the crumpets. "

"The food came to us beautifully presented and full of colour. Diving straight into it was absolutely divine, the crumpets were soft and fluffy, and it was bursting with flavour. Forget basic-bitch crumpets, think soft sassy little freaks that melt in your mouth. Never would think to put crumpets with chorizo, a strange combination that works wonders. The portions were very generous and very filling."

"We started with a short rib crumpet which was as good as it sounds. A comforting blend of flavours and textures; soft and fatty beef shortrib, crisp crumpet and silky smooth hollandaise topped with crunchy onions."
