"Spotty opening hours are the only blight on this brightly painted caravan diner overlooking Jackson Bay. Cray Pot serves honest seafood and big portions of fish and chips, all served with homegrown veggies and herbs."
"The Craypot in Jackson Bay, 50 Km south of Haast, certainly the best fish and chips I have tasted outside of England. We got there just before rush hour, when the locals, who make their living from the sea, arrived to add their air of originality and homeliness to the place. The 100 Km detour to the end of the road was definitely worth it."
"Once in Jackson Bay make a lunchtime stop at The Craypot, a tiny caravan right on the waterfront, where you can sample fresh fish and chips or whitebait, a local New Zealand favourite."
"There’s not a lot out here but a small fishing operation, The Craypot (brilliant fish n chips!), and the wharf itself. It’s a beautiful location and well worth the hour or so drive from Haast."
"In the town of Haast, there is a restaurant called The Craypot and they serve incredible fish and chips, and seafood in general."
"No one lives here except the crayfishermen and the ladies who run The Craypot. It’s a bitch to get to. But, Kittens, it was the best damn fish-n-chips I’ve had yet."
"Super friendly staff and delicious fresh food – predominately all thing seafood. It was so good we did the road trip again the next day for another feed of fish n chips! If you’re visiting NZ and see Blue Cod or Orange Roughy on the menu – go for it, you won’t be disappointed... my mouth is watering again just at the thought of it."
