Cheung Chau Bun Festival

(Cheung Chau Da Jiu Festival, 長洲太平清醮, 包山節)
Hong Kong, China Late April

Cheung Chau Bun Festival is a spectacular cultural event taking place in April/May every year around Buddha's Birthday on the island of Cheung Chau, just nearby Hong Kong. Next to delightful processions, parades, dances and unique contests, visitors can enjoy delicious vegan meals at local restaurants and the offerings of numerous vendors selling everything from buns and fruits to ritual objects.

Among highlights of the festivities are Bun Towers – the buns are later distributed to the locals for good luck and health.
