Unlike a hamburger, a cheeseburger will also include a slice of cheese, traditionally American cheese, but any other good melting cheese like Swiss, cheddar, mozzarella, and blue cheese will do. To prepare one, a slice of cheese is placed on top of a beef patty just shy of being completely cooked, so it has time to melt. The patty with cheese is then placed inside a, preferably, toasted bun, together with all the other toppings and condiments like onions, tomatoes, lettuce, bacon, mushrooms, ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard, and much more, all that can be tailored to personal taste. A cheeseburger is typically served with French fries, potato chips, or onions rings, with either beer or soft drinks.

1.2 kg of freshly ground chuck
1 tbsp of onion powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
12 slices of American cheese
6 large burger buns, preferably homemade
GARNISH
lettuce
onions, sliced
tomatoes, sliced
ketchup
pickles, sliced
In a large bowl gently mix ground beef and onion powder, then shape into six patties that are slightly larger than your hamburger buns and have a dent in the center.
Heat your grill, grill pan, or a cast iron skillet over high heat, season the patties liberally with salt and pepper, then place them on the grill to cook.
Cook for about two minutes until the crust on the bottom has formed. Flip the burgers once you can lift them up easily then add two cheese slices to each. Cook for another two to three minutes.
Remove from the grill and transfer into buns, add the desired garnishings and condiments like lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and ketchup, then serve.
