"I opted for the “Settle for Less Ugly” elk burger, which was a juicy elk burger, perfectly cooked on a homemade bun. I’ve never tried elk, but it’s meant to be a healthier version of your typical burger, and it was just as tasty!"
"Known for its fantastically juicy burgers and deliciously creamy ice creams, Bub’s is everything an authentically American fast-food style joint should be. In tune with the eating challenge crazes that have taken over American burger bars, anyone that finishes one of Bub’s largest burgers such as ‘the big ugly elk one pound’, will get their picture on the wall of fame."
"I have always felt that a good burger can stand up on its own without any condiments. This holds true with the Bub's burger. This was also the first time I have had elk. The elk tasting a bit sweeter than the beef. The bun is baked locally, it was toasted and had a wonderful buttery flavor. The sweet potato waffle fries reminded me of Thanksgiving. These were a perfect blend of sweet and salty. The fries were crispy throughout."
"I was very surprised when I bit into my elk burger at how juicy it was. I haven’t had a lot of elk in my day so I don’t have much to compare it to, but this burger was flavorful and textured just like a beef burger, and just super juicy with just a hint of a flavor that I had never had, but o-so good!"
"So I went for the specialty, the elk burger. This patty is so juicy and has a noticeably different taste than beef. It’s cooked to perfection, and you can tell that it doesn’t have the fat that a traditional beef burger has, but it has just as much taste and flavor. The toppings complement the burger perfectly, as Bub’s uses a less is more approach, going with just lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and your choice of cheese."
"I went with the quarter-pound burger with elk meat, which is 75 percent leaner than beef and is higher in protein – a good choice for health-conscious eaters. It’s topped with an over-easy egg and your choice of cheese (I chose pepper jack). Lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles are served on the side. I ordered a side of jalapenos to add a little bit of kick."
