Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Rabajà is a distinguished wine crafted from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, sourced from the esteemed Rabajà vineyard in Barbaresco. Spanning 0.6 hectares, the vineyard is characterized by calcareous clay soils and a south-to-southwest exposure, providing ideal conditions for cultivating Nebbiolo.
The vines, approximately 25 to 27 years old, produce a yield of 45 hL/ha, contributing to the wine’s exceptional quality. The wine exhibits a striking garnet-red color with subtle orange hues. On the nose, it reveals a complex bouquet of violets, fresh red fruits, and spicy notes, reflecting its elegant terroir.
Bruno Giacosa (1929–2018) was a renowned Italian winemaker from Piedmont, celebrated for producing exceptional wines from the Barolo and Barbaresco appellations, crafted from the Nebbiolo grape variety. He began his career at the age of 15, working in the family business, and quickly earned a reputation as a perfectionist dedicated to quality.
Giacosa was known for his strict standards; in years when he deemed the quality of the grapes insufficient, he chose not to produce wine but instead sold the grapes in bulk. His wines were often aged in traditional large oak casks, which contributed to their elegance and longevity.
