Brainstorm is a whisky-based vintage cocktail. It combines Irish whiskey, Bénédictine liqueur, and dry vermouth. To prepare the cocktail, all the ingredients are stirred with ice, and the mix is strained into a chilled coupe glass.
Orange twist is usually used as a garnish. Brainstorm first appeared in Hugo Ensslin’s 1916 book Recipes for Mixed Drinks, in which Ensslin suggests using an old-fashioned glass. It was also featured in The Savoy Cocktail Book, written by Harry Craddock in 1930.
