Backdraft is a potent American cocktail that is also one of the most popular flaming cocktails, since it involves igniting the drink, but also inhaling its vapors, which speeds up alcohol absorption into the bloodstream. The classic version is prepared with a combination of Drambuie and Grand Marnier, which are poured into a snifter glass, and the drink is ignited, then sealed with a coaster or a saucer.
Once the flame has subsided, Backdraft should be drunk by inserting a straw inside, keeping as much of the seal intact so that most of the vapors remain contained in the glass, and then both the liquid and the vapors are consumed through the straw.
