Sarorun Kamuy, translating to "white crane" in the Ainu language, is the first official single malt from the Akkeshi Distillery, nestled in the stunning natural landscapes of northern Hokkaido. Aged in a variety of casks, including Mizunara, bourbon, sherry, and red wine, this whisky has quickly gained recognition, earning a Double Gold at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition in the "Other Single Malt" category.
Located in Japan’s northern most island of Hokkaido and further east than any other distillery in the country, production at Akkeshi Distillery started in 2016. The goal of Akkeshi Distillery is to blend traditional Scottish methods with the unique flavors of Akkeshi, Japan.
