"My go-to Gatsby haunt is Mariam’s Kitchen, a delicious, low-key halal takeout joint with two locations: St. George’s Mall and Heerengracht Street."

"It was bigger and spicier and more delicious than even greedy-guts, curry-loving me had expected. The steak was tender and flavourful, the chips were crisp and spicy and the sautéed onion tied it all together perfectly."

"Eat a Gatsby at Miriam’s Kitchen on St George’s Mall, which Khan describes as our ‘city’s signature‘ dish, news to us Capetonians!"

"The bread is freshly baked, soft, like a giant American hotdog roll. It contributes no taste but absorbs the hot, spicy sauce and holds the sandwich together without leaking or falling apart. There is a nondescript layer of shredded lettuce and fried onions but later, when all that is left on my plate is salad debris, I taste the most perfect imitation of Mc Donalds Big Mac sauce (delicious)."

"Not only is this super sandwich hotspot very conveniently located (there are two stores in the heart of the CBD), but it also makes a killer (and perfectly spiced) Full House Steak Gatsby – think masala steak, eggs, chips, cheese, braised onion and salad."

"Make sure you split a half sandwich for 2 people! It's huge! Tried this sandwich with chicken and it was delicious!! Highly recommend trying this sandwich when in Cape Town!!"
